Projects involving Will Smith, who slapped comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars, were shelved. Netflix and Apple TV+ have withdrawn offers to make the famous actress’s biopic.
Will Smith continues to face the consequences of slapping comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars. According to the news of The Sun newspaper, Netflix and Apple TV+ have decided to withdraw from the competition to produce the biopic of the famous actor.
Streaming services silently withdrew their bid for the rights to turn Will Smith‘s life story into a movie, according to reports. The film in question was to be based on the actor’s bestselling autobiography WILL, which debuted last year.
They will head for different black stars
Netflix and Apple TV+ are instead planning to develop projects with more “family-friendly” black stars like Mike Epps and Michael B. Jordan. A source speaking to the British newspaper said, “Working with Will has become a risky business,” and no statement was made from either company.
