Apple is planning to release a new AirPods Pro this fall, featuring a new design, improved audio quality, and some possible health integration.
Apple is planning a fall launch for the second-generation AirPods Pro and new color options, according to a new report from Bloomberg. The AirPods Pro will feature a slimmer design, improved audio quality, and possible health tracking integration. Apple’s over-ear headphones, the AirPods Max, are not expected to receive the same level of updates as the AirPods Pro but could see new color options in the future.
Expect the new AirPods Pro this fall. The current model has been on the market since the fall of 2019, so batteries are likely to have problems for some early users. Also, check out the surprising AirPods Max with new colors (and hopefully a price reduction of $550 doesn’t make sense for the headphones).
The second-generation AirPods Pro is rumored to launch this fall, though it’s unknown whether that will mean a September reveal or a later announcement. The new AirPods Pro is said to feature a design change that sees away with the stem and an improved charging case in the box. It is not clear whether the device will have health capabilities like the AirPods Max.
Apple’s AirPods Pro is expected to see an upgrade this fall, with a new design and better audio quality. The existing model was released in 2019 and has not been refreshed since. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said he expects a launch in the second half of the year, which lines up with what Gurman revealed this week. The new AirPods Pro could feature a more compact design that sees away with the stem, coupled with lossless audio support over a new protocol. There is no word on whether or not Apple will work on a second-generation model of its over-ear headphones that launched in December 2020. Instead, Apple may only be working on new color options for them.
